Last week our community came together to experience the stories, the insights and the projects that make up innovation and FinTech in the Nordic region. We learned about the legacy of being a pioneer in financial technology OM derivatives exchange in the early 1980s. We discovered the importance of collaboration and the magic of infrastructure – illustrated by the look into the Journey to P27, the cross border, multicurrency payments harmonisation project. And we delved into a debate about the way the Nordics view themselves, their goals for innovation and progress and what the various countries can offer and learn from other parts of the world.
Central to FTT Virtual Nordics was our signature Big Question Debate, where senior leaders from the region answered the question: Is Nordic Innovation a Myth?
Søren Rode Jain Andreasen, Chief Digital Officer at Danske Bank told us a story of a land that gave us Lego, Spotify and the Nobel Prize. Kathy Chang, Head of Fintech Partnerships, Payments & Innovation, DNB explained her move from Taiwan to Norway and compared and contrasted the two regions. And Johan Liedgren, Digitalization and Innovation, Handelsbanken – along with many at FTT Virtual Nordics on 14th October – cited the digital identity framework that is in use in many Scandinavian countries and eases issues around identity and access for many of its citizens.
