The Fintech Talents team, along with our partners at Marqeta, set off on an epic road trip to explore growing European fintech hubs. Three cities in one week – Paris, Stockholm and Berlin – yielded fantastic insight and the opportunity to speak to leading innovators along the way.
During the Berlin stop of the Fintech Talents Road Trip, we caught up with Matteo Gamba, Head of Product for Payment and Fraud at Wayfair, who focsses on finding the right payment methods for customers. He is working to build the perfect customer experience by making sure the payment process is in no way problematic, whilst also trying to give customers a better way to shop by providing solutions that can actually help them complete their purchase.
When it comes to innovation, Matteo has a keen interest in open banking and how it has evolved in recent years. He notes how in Europe where the drive for open banking has come from both regulation but also from consumer brands actively pushing for it. Like many others, he can see the potential open finance can have on a customer’s shopping journey.
Matteo goes on to explain how this and the crypto world are trends to watch, although he doesn’t believe that either are quite there yet from both a consumer and market adoption perspective.
Wayfair is a large enterprise merchant selling furniture and homeware across 5 markets; the US, Canada, UK, Germany and Ireland.
