I spoke with Diego Ballon Ossio, a Senior Associate at Clifford Chance, who pointed to some of the regulatory developments that our community needs to keep a close eye on. Understanding those regulatory requirements is fundamental to building a new products, mapping the structure, and operating cross-border.
Diego spoke to some of the key trends on the horizon. He flagged that the fintech industry is currently going through a big period of change and noted that high profile insolvencies in the crypto space that cannot be ignored.
When it comes to crypto, the EU regulatory framework is almost complete and will likely create the blueprint for other geographies. Crypto providers/exchanges, for example, will need to demonstrate prudence, effective risk management and acceptable customer protection.
