On 12th July our community came together for the launch of FTT DeFi, the one-day show where we explored the key opportunities and challenges in decentralised finance, digital assets and Web 3.
During the day, Eddie Robb, Commercial Director at Zumo Enterprise sat down with Jehangir Byramji, Emerging Technology and Innovation Lead at Lloyds. They discussed the opportunities and potential use cases for distributed ledger technology in traditional financial institutions.
“Within financial services we’ve seen publicly groups like JP Morgan working on things like their report on blockchain, and I’ve seen a lot of cross-border payments. At Lloyds we partner with finality on cross-border type solutions so there’s a lot of power in this technology. What’s really exciting is how we’re starting to see it applied across other industries.”
Jehangir discussed the demand from different customer bases for crypto and Web 3, the evolving conversation with regulators and the treasury around digital currencies and whether DeFi models will have a significant impact in the financial services industry.

The conversation continues at Future Identity Festival, co-located with FID Fraud & FinCrime, the FTT Fintech Festival, FTT AI Transformation, and FTT Mutuals on the 10th – 11th November 2025 at The Brewery, London.
