Are you looking to solve problems for more mature consumers? The FinTech community shouldn’t miss this opportunity to set their sights on new challenges. Given the changing demographics in the UK (and many other countries around the world), significant value can be delivered to what is an economically powerful and growing community. We are looking forward to seeing what innovative new ideas our community can create.
The deadline for the Innovating for Ageing competition has been extended!
We are pleased to announce that we have extended the competition deadline, by four weeks, to Sunday 9th September.
Innovating for Ageing is looking for innovative solutions to help vulnerable older consumers overcome a range of barriers, in order to support and empower them to make the most of later life.
Whether you’re a start-up, large company, individual or a social enterprise, Innovating for Ageing are keen to hear your ideas and assist you in the development process. The winners will receive recognition for their ideas, as well as a share of £10,000 worth of prizes, which may be used for brand development, marketing, or start-up costs. Moreover, all shortlisted entries will receive professional support from the competition’s prestigious advisory board and judges, increased brand awareness and have their ideas publicised to potential investors and policy makers.
The Innovating for Ageing competition was set up by independent think tank the International Longevity Centre – UK (ILC-UK) and specialist financial services firm Just. In the initial stages of the project, the ILC-UK set out to identify the principle problems faced by vulnerable older consumers. Receiving more than 80 problem submissions so far, six competition categories were established, namely:
- End of life planning
- Identifying vulnerability
- Digital exclusion
- Isolation and loneliness
- Money matters
- Surprise us! (miscellaneous)
Over the past two months, we have received over 50 truly promising solutions to the problems faced by vulnerable older consumers from a range of different start-ups, businesses, individuals and community organisations. We look forward to helping these ideas develop and thank everyone that has entered the Innovating for Ageing competition so far!
