Get ready to shoot some hoops for good at the Fintech Talents Festival 2023 as our charity partner Kate’s Meal Appeal is back and needs your help.
Nothing says banking event like basketball. So we’re delighted that Kate Bolton from Comms for Good will be back at the festival again this year and this time she hopes a basketball challenge will make achieving her fundraising goals a slam dunk.
Festival goers will once again have the chance to compete against their colleagues and competitors – this time with a basketball arcade game – while raising funds for Kate’s Meal Appeal. Huge thanks to this year’s sponsors FirstWord Media, Bowes-Lyon and Smartnumbers for making this happen and, of course, to the team at Fintech Talents.
Last year we raised over £2000 and the Enfuce folks were the golf putting champions. We look forward to seeing who will top the leader board this year. And most importantly, let’s try and double the funds we raise.
Here’s a reminder of where the money goes. Funds raised by Kate’s Meal Appeal are split between the following three small charities:
UKHarvest – is on a mission to eliminate hunger and reduce food waste through the redistribution of quality surplus food and education. This charity collects unwanted food from supermarkets, hotels, restaurants etc, and distributes it to other charities. Its community kitchen, Nourish Hub, serves meals to paying and non-paying customers and hosts community events.
FoodCycle – is bringing together local communities in kitchens across the country. Their vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past. People from all walks of life are encouraged to come and meet, chat and eat meals made from surplus ingredients.
Chefs in Schools – is fuelling the future by transforming school food and food education. A programme run by professional chefs trains school kitchen staff to cook sustainable meals from scratch and teaches children about food.
