I’m very inspired by the application of technology rather than the technology itself. For us, we’re looking at a whole range of where they can best help to serve our customers better. So what we were looking at is areas such as machine learning so that we can have real insight into how to better serve our customers. Whether that be in terms of how they can access services from the bank or also the services themselves.
Technology is a vital ingredient of what we do
We’re also looking at the areas of emerging technology such as distributed ledger and blockchain principally because it allows us to completely rethink how we approach solutions in terms of distributed architectures and shared platforms. We can actually collaborate across the industry and build better more effective solutions to reach our customers and to ensure that we’re accessible to our market and our regulators.
Technology is a vital ingredient of what we do, but as I said before it’s very much an enabler and without the people talent that goes with it it’s quite stifled. So something like FinTECHTalents that brings together those two key strands, but in a very forward-looking way that’s looking at both the emerging technology and the emerging talents I think is a perfect combination.
I’d like us to be very much an active participant so that we can very much showcase what we’re trying to do. By reaching out to our customers into the market and to the FinTech community but also to engage with some of those ideas that are coming through particularly from the startup sector and from academia and very much to actively engage in the event.
Because I think collaboration is all about rolling up the sleeves and getting involved
