It’s that time of year again, when we all get asked to share our ‘predictions’. I always pause when I get asked, because I feel ‘predictions’ are different from ‘wishes’ or ‘actions’. There’s much I ‘predict’, which I don’t wish to come true. So instead of predictions – we at VC innovations – want to offer you our end-of-the-year Holiday Wishes.
Liz Lumley: My wish for 2019 is to see the industry embrace purpose over hustle. I want to see a FinTech industry – that includes banks, financial institutions, established FinTech players and newer startup and growth firms – that works towards making banking [or insurance, or fund management etc…] better for everyone. Many people will work on products and projects that will fail and many more will work on projects that quietly succeed and make work and financial services and technology better. My wish is that the tone of discussions recognizes that this messy, interconnected, competing, collaborating ecosystems of an industry is its strength and that any notion of ‘us versus them’ weakens all of us.
Lisa Moyle: My wish is for a community of innovators to take on the challenge of creating beautifully designed, well thought out products for the Over 55’s. I want to see the entire FinTech ecosystem get their blood pumping about the longevity economy and move beyond the Millennials First mentality. I would also like a mini fridge and a cappuccino machine for my new office.
Victor Cruz: My wish for 2019 is to continue to grow the VC INNOVATIONS portfolio of event brands, digital platforms and communities, whilst maintaining the quality of delivery and the strength of our products.
Marius Dinca: My wish for 2019 is to continue delivering value to our partners, to bring new members into our community and to enjoy every day at work, as I did this year. I also wish to be able to use my bike for the daily commute.
Just Jake: My wish for 2019 is to win the EuroMillions, I would like to win this Friday if possible though. The sooner the better really. If I win, I promise to do good (It’s Christmas after all) and will of course make FinTECHTalents the best festival ever. A girlfriend would also be nice, so if you’re single hit me up.
Happy Holidays and a Merry New Year from all of us – Victor, Lisa, Liz, Marius, and (Just) Jake! See you in 2019 when we will have loads more content, experiences and festivals to share with you!
