The Fintech Talents team, along with our partners at Marqeta, set off on an epic road trip to explore growing European fintech hubs. Three cities in one week – Paris, Stockholm and Berlin – yielded fantastic insight and the opportunity to speak to leading innovators along the way.
During the Paris stop of the Fintech Talents Road Trip, we spoke with Romain de Maud’Huy, Global Head of Insurance at Oney, to hear his thoughts on fintech innovation and the road ahead. Whilst Romain believes AI is bringing some incredible innovations and opportunities, especially in terms of operations and building relationships with clients, he believes we should be focusing less on the tech evolution and more on utilising the technology we have.
For the last year and a half, the increased inflation and higher interest rate environment that we have found ourselves in has rocked the boat tremendously and Romain mentions how we should be focusing on finding ways to utilise the technology we already have available to help banks and retailers pass through this.
Romain also touched upon the importance of building partnerships with companies that focus on specific parts of the value chain as opposed to trying to tackle everything at once to help build a better foundation. No one entity can have the capacity to embed all services and technology to the best standard, and although it isn’t easy to find the right partner, Romain is encouraging that this is the best way forward.
Oney is a unique bank which has a different vision of financing and payment solutions; to be more modern, more sustainable, and more humane.
