Ahead of this year’s Future Identity Festival, Laura Camplisson sat down with Fabian Eberle to discuss how digital identity has evolved in the past year, and what’s next for the sector. Fabian is Co-Founder and COO of Festival sponsor Keyless, a passwordless authentication company pioneering privacy preserving biometric authentication, based on a combination of biometrics, liveness detection and cryptography.
The Keyless mission, Fabian explains, is to seamlessly authenticate people, not passwords or devices. Passwords have been used as a method for authentication since the 1960s and despite their flaws are still widely used today. “Issues have been addressed by adding Additional layers of security which compromises the user experience even further and doesn’t really solved the underlying pain point of the password,” he notes.
The insightful interview explores how enabling digital identity will require the right technology as well as a cultural and mindset shift throughout an organisation. Fabian also highlights the dangers of biometric systems which are not privacy preserving, and the ways to mitigate this risk.
What does it take to solve the digital identity trilema of customer experience, security and privacy? Watch the full interview below to find out.
