There have been some major news stories in the world of identity over the past few weeks.
The Tokyo 2020 organisation announced contactless, real-time face recognition will be used at this year’s Olympic games. In the UK, the extent of public anxiety and confusion over the use of medical identity data became clear, as the hashtag #NHSDataGrab trended on Twitter.
The European Commission set out plans to offer citizens, residents and businesses in all member states digital identity wallets. And news broke that TikTok has updated its privacy policy to allow for the collection of face and voice biometrics from its US users.
By far the biggest announcement though, was the launch of the Future Identity Festival 2021! This unique hybrid experience will be coming to the Brewery, London, this November 15th and 16th.
Okay, okay… so maybe we’re not quite as infamous as TikTok or the Olympics (yet!), but we are extremely excited about this news. We can’t wait to see speakers in action on a real stage, instead of in a box on our screens. We can practically taste an icy pint from the craft beer bar and can already hear the lively conversations, and tunes from our music stage filling the busy expo hall.
There’s really no limit to who you might meet at the Future Identity Festival. We strongly believe that to make progress with digital identity, you need a diverse group of individuals and organisations working together to build an ecosystem. So you can expect to cross paths with government officials, influential campaigners, leading academics and cutting-edge technologists. You will run into identity implementers across a whole range of industries, from financial services, to travel, gambling, e-commerce and healthcare; all working on a unique piece of the identity puzzle.
150 rockstar speakers will be taking to the mainstage, to share their identity experiences, ambitions and insights. All live sessions will also be streamed to our international audience, meaning anyone not able to join in-person this year, won’t have to miss out on a single minute.
Our content sessions will be dynamic and topical, reflecting the rapidly evolving nature of the identity ecosystem. It’s impossible to predict exactly what the coming months will bring. So our speakers will cover the latest developments right up until announcements made on the days the festival is taking place.
One thing you can be sure of, is that we won’t be shying away from the big questions! You can expect debate, controversy and honesty discussions on topics like:
- To blockchain or not to blockchain?
- Vaccine passports – love them or loathe them?
- Inclusion: A critical concern or just an excuse for delay?
- Privacy & control – what do users really care about?
- Is the fight against fraud a losing battle?
The festival will be co-located with the third edition of the Fintech Talents festival – an open and inclusive festival of ideas, examining the nature of innovation, the evolution of work and the down and dirty hard graft of digital transformation. All for a financial services audience.
